Are You Convinced?

KarenIn my first blog I talked about the godly example that I had from my parents growing up. When we are young in our faith, we have what some people call a “child-like faith”, but as we continue in our faith walk, and God and His Word become more real in our lives, we need to apply it in our daily walk and make it our own instead of relying solely on those that taught it to us.

Last week we had our VBS week here at the Precept Training Centre in Brantford and yes it was a little bit louder than usual 🙂 but it also reminded me of how much I loved being a camp counsellor. I remember there were many opportunities to share the Gospel with the kids during the week but then eventually they would have to go home and carry on in the knowledge of God that they learned by themselves. We wouldn’t be able to remind them each and every day to read their bible or pray to God, as it needed to be their decision.

This week as we’re reading 2 Timothy 3:14-15, where Paul is encouraging Timothy to “continue in the things you have learned and become convinced from whom you have learned them”, it reminds me of these kids and actually all of us, that there comes a point in our lives where we need to become convinced ourselves of the truth so we can pass on the good news to others. Just as Paul is encouraging Timothy, we as fellow believers need to encourage one another and continue in the things we have learned.

Who will you encourage this week? Or do you need to be encouraged yourself? Is God laying someone on your heart that needs encouragement this week?

Thanks for the great blog Karen. Encouraging one another to follow Jesus daily is vital to one’s spiritual health. Paul mentions in chapter one verse 3,”without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day:”. This means that even if the people we have taught and shared the gospel with are not physically in our presence we can always continue to make an impact for good on their lives by our unceasing prayers for them.
    God bless you.
