Have you studied the Precept Upon Precept course on the book of Acts? In Acts 1, Luke records Jesus’ final instructions to the disciples before He ascended to heaven.

Mark_circleJesus tells the disciples to remain in Jerusalem and to wait for what the Father promised: the Holy Spirit. The disciples asked Jesus if this coming promise would be the time in which the kingdom will be restored to Israel. Jesus said, “It is not for you to know the times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

Luke then tells us that after He said these things, Jesus ascended to Heaven. Acts records the spreading of the gospel through the Apostles, and details Paul’s missionary journeys and his ministry of taking the gospel to many places where the gospel had not gone before.

Fast forward to 2016, and the gospel continues to spread to the remotest parts of the earth. There are churches and ministries working together to fulfill this calling of taking the gospel all over the earth.

In September, the Precept Ministries International office in Chattanooga, Tennessee hosted meetings with 13 international directors who have been called to oversee multiple countries and locations throughout the world. Some of these directors represent large portions of the world like Eurasia, the Pacific Rim, Africa, United Kingdom, India, and South America, just to name a few. We all sat around the table with one mind and one goal: to see people established in God’s Word through Precept Inductive Bible Study.

Over four days, we were in awe of the testimonies where the gospel was being preached. The Holy Spirit was bringing conviction, and people were repenting of their sins. Lives are being transformed all over the world where people are learning to dig into God’s Word for themselves and see truth. It’s amazing to know that in more than 180 countries people are learning to study God’s Word with the Precept Inductive Bible Study Method!

In Acts, one of the keys to the growth of the church is being of one mind (2:46). As I sat listening to these directors, I quickly realized that if we want to further the gospel and see thousands more established in God’s Word not only in Canada but worldwide, we must work together with one mind, having a national and global perspective. This, I believe, will drastically change the impact the Canadian arm of this ministry will have here in our country and across the globe.

We’re praying that God will open the floodgates and grow this ministry to where we here in Canada can make a greater impact for the gospel and fulfill our calling to “go and make disciples”.

Did you know God is already using Canada to make a global impact?

  • In 2016, we had a French translation project where we funded the translation of Teach Me to Study the Bible in 28 Days, and the 40-minute study Ignite Your Passion for God to be used to minister in Québec.
  • At the same time, God was opening doors in France for our UK director to take some of our French materials to Paris. In Paris, terrorist attacks created a greater hunger for God’s Word, and before we knew it, a group of men and women were using the new translation of Teach Me to Study in 28 Days in a church in France.
  • God then opened a door for us to translate a Discover 4 Yourself children’s study on Genesis to be used at a vacation Bible school in Québec.

Since the beginning of 2016, we’ve translated four studies into French and held the first training workshop in French. A couple in France have taken these new studies to an island off the coast of Africa called Mauritius, near Madagascar, to be used there as well.

Praise the Lord for the way God is using Canada to reach out globally. Not only has our ministry served through providing French translation, but we had the opportunity to partner with a church in Calgary to provide 40-minute training materials for their mission trip to Guatemala. The director in South America is now partnering with this local group to ensure they continue to develop the skills in the inductive method so they can disciple others using the Precept study materials.

Precept Canada has also worked alongside a Canadian missionary to provide funds for the ministry in Kenya. Kenya was then able to hire a new staff member to support the director in Kenya who is seeing God use Precept Kenya to establish over 200,000 teenagers a year in God’s Word using the 40-Minute Bible Studies.

Finally, we came alongside two missionaries here in Canada who live in Northern Ontario taking the gospel into very remote fly-in communities like Big Trout Lake, Ontario. In partnership with their local church, we were able to provide the children’s study Boy, Have I got Problems. This is the gospel going forth to the remotest parts of the earth, just as Jesus said would happen in Acts.

In 2016, God has blessed the ministry with thousands of new people in Canada being established in God’s Word. These are people who have never heard or implemented inductive Bible study skills into their daily study. Some of these began studying the Bible for the very first time in their Christian walk.

I’m amazed at all that God has done and yet there is so much more to be done!

While praying over these meetings with the directors and seeing the way that God was moving this year, I’ve come to believe He’s leading this ministry to make an even greater impact worldwide. But we can’t do this without you!

Canada is an affluent nation. It is estimated that Canadians give more than $10.6 billion to charity. I believe that God is leading this ministry to raise $1 million over the next 3 years, in addition to Canadian operation funds, so that we can directly support ministry happening in another country like France.

These funds will be used to:

  • Provide French translation for the French-speaking population around the world.
  • Provide training materials to our missionaries on the ground who will equip and develop new Bible study leaders who will then take the gospel and pass it on to others.
  • Establish thousands of people in God’s Word in Québec, as well as other parts of our country where there are people who speak French.

Beloved, it’s time to use the resources God has given us to make a global Kingdom investment—a financial investment that you know will be used to establish people in God’s Word worldwide. I believe that Canada has the resources to make this happen. But this will only happen when you and I listen to God’s calling to give to Precept Ministries here in Canada.

Would you pray?

  • Pray that God would show you whether you can make an investment in furthering the gospel.
  • Pray that God would be able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think.
  • Pray that God would be glorified as we serve with a global mindset and that God would continue to open doors for our country, our ministry to reach beyond our borders.
