Why the Precept™ Inductive Bible Study Method?
The difference between Precept Ministries' Bible studies and Bible study workshops and other Bible study material that's available stems from some core beliefs. It is our firm belief that God's Word is meant to be read and understood by every person. The Bible is not a secretive book meant to only be read and understood by a few scholarly or clerical types.
As you read Psalm 119 you see the amazing benefits to those who know God's Word, who hold it in high regard and who live by it. (Click here to download a short "Lightning Study" on Psalm 119.)
As a result of these beliefs Precept Ministries' Bible studies are written to engage the student with the Word, not with what someone else has to say about the Word. After you've studied inductively you'll be able to confidently say, "God's Word says. . ." rather than "This is what it means to me. . ." or "I feel that it is saying. . ."
In a Precept Bible study group, everyone participates. Leaders lead the group in a discussion, rather than lecturing.
The Precept™ Inductive Bible Study Method workshops teach how to study the Bible in a manner that is as accessible to the lay person as it is the college graduate. You don't need to know a lot about the Bible before you attend a workshop.
Precept Ministries Bible studies come in a variety of series that will meet you wherever you want to begin studying the Bible. The 40-Minute No Homework series is a great place to start. If you are ready to go a bit deeper look at the extensive list of titles in the New Inductive Study Series (NISS). Or, if you are starving for the meat of God's Word, head straight for the Precept Upon Precept series.
Wherever you choose to begin know that our staff is always willing to help you choose a study or provide 'technical support' once you begin studying.
