When
Inductive Bible study is for today.
In a church culture that is quickly becoming biblically illiterate, nothing could be more important than sending individuals and entire congregations back to the Bible.
Pastors, small group leaders, youth and childrens' ministry workers are doing this by putting inductive Bible studies into the hands of their students.
Sunday mornings pastors stand before their congregations with a sermon they've prepared by studying an in-depth Precept Upon Precept study. Sermon preparation that might have taken several days is now cut down to 7 or 8 hours a week.
Mid-week cell groups or small groups gather to discuss the lesson they all studied over the previous week. Leaders of these small groups prepare by doing the same lesson as the students. Then, with the help of a written leader's guide, they choose meaningful discussion questions that will help the students solidify the truth they've studied. Many of the studies have an optional 1 hour message on DVD that the class can watch following their discussion time.
Sunday School and Children's church ministries are using the children's Discover 4 Yourself Bible study series to put the scriptures into the hands of children. One Bible study of 6 lessons can be worked on over the course of an entire quarter, or half a year. Children learn how to study the Bible and how it applies to the situations they face daily.
