Easter 2018 was not like any other Easter for Jessica and I. This year we woke up in a hotel in Jerusalem just outside the Jaffa gate. This Easter we celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ in the Garden Tomb. The Garden Tomb gives you a real sense of being in the location where Jesus was buried.

Before making our way to the tomb, our guide took us to the place known as Golgotha (Matthew 27:33), where Scripture tells us that Jesus was crucified. As I sat looking at the hollows in the rock, I could see that it looked like a skull. “Golgotha” is Aramaic for skull. Could it be that I was looking at Calvary, the place where Jesus took on the sin of the world past, present, and future to become the one true sacrifice that was the atonement for sin?

This was a very heavy moment as I pictured darkness coming upon the land, and Matthew 27:46 became so clear in my mind: “Eli, Eli Lama Sabachthani?” That is, “My God My God, why have you forsaken Me?” Then, John 19:30, “It is finished!” In that moment, I couldn’t hear a sound as I meditated on what Jesus did not only for me, but for all those who chose to believe.

After spending some time at Golgotha, we made our way to the tomb. Located across from the tomb entrance was a winepress and a large rounded stone. The stone was rolled away and a door now sits on the entrance of the tomb with a sign, “He is not here, He is Risen.” Suddenly my sorrow turned to joy because Jesus had risen; He defeated sin and death. Through this WE HAVE VICTORY!

This was an experience like no other. You see, I became a Christian at 9 years old while attending a Christian Service Brigade camp. I remember the speaker telling me about sin and my need for a Saviour, and it was in that moment that my life changed forever. For 33 years, I have listened to the gospel, studied the truth of the gospel, and listened to the Easter message of Christ’s death and resurrection. And yet after sitting in the Garden Tomb, my experience with the gospel has not changed, but an even greater visual of those moments thousands of years ago has become so clear. I’m even more convinced—if that is even possible.

Beloved, you’ll have to join us in Israel someday. For more than 10 years, I have listened to people all over Canada share with me how God’s Word has come alive for them through the Precept Inductive Bible Study Method. They call these moments “lightbulb” or “aha” moments, where the Word of God is unlocked. It comes alive! It’s not just words on a page anymore, but they realize that when they study using our method and materials, they’re hearing the voice of God. What a blessing it is to be a trainer and leader who witnesses these moments of transformation in our students.

Our ministry exists to establish people in God’s Word through the Precept Inductive Bible Study Method, and millions of people around the world are experiencing gospel transformation because the Holy Spirit is unlocking truth through this method of Bible study.

The gospel is all about salvation; we need to be saved from the wrath of God. Before we were born, we were in debt, born with sin, and nothing we could do would remove that sin. We needed a Saviour, and Jesus became that sacrifice for our sin. He was crucified according to the Scriptures, He was then buried, and after three days He rose from the dead according to the Scriptures. And after He rose from the dead, He appeared to Cephas, to the twelve and hundreds of men at one time. The gospel is real, the gospel is truth, and in the gospel is the power of God for salvation—and it’s available to everyone who believes. In the gospel, the righteousness of God is revealed (unlocked).

The need for truth in our country is vital as we move further and further away from the plumbline of God’s Word. Beloved, join me in building the kingdom of God in Canada. Your financial gift will further the gospel in Canada through our training workshops, Cross-Canada Tour, and online podcast ministry.

Thank you for partnering with us in the furtherance of the gospel.

Serving the King of Kings,

Mark

“I was introduced to inductive Bible study last year when we began attending a new church in Brantford. I had previously completed a number of other Bible studies, but it wasn’t until I began using the Precept Inductive Bible Study Method, that God opened up my eyes and my heart to the truth in His word.

It took me several days of staring at my beautiful New Inductive Study Bible before I actually had the courage to put a single mark in it! My first Precept Upon Precept study was Philippians, and from learning to highlight, underline, and use the tools taught to me, I could now see God’s commands, promises, His attributes, character, and His truth light up the pages of my Bible.

I feel like I have been waiting for this my whole life, and now I can’t get enough of what God wants to show me through His Holy Spirit. I am truly grateful for the blessing of Precept Ministries, along with the faithful women who are teaching, mentoring, and sharing their love of Jesus Christ with me.” — Nena, Brantford ON
