(For Immediate Release)

December 5, 2012 (Brantford, ON) – Precept Ministries Inc. announced a transition in key management roles today as National Directors, Dr. Tom & Jane Hart, officially announced that the Board of Directors has appointed their successor, Mark Sheldrake. Mark will assume the role of National Director, January 1, 2013.

Mark’s desire is to faithfully continue building on the solid foundation God laid using Tom & Jane over the past 25 years to establish Canadians in God’s Word.

Since coming on staff six years ago, Mark has been groomed to assume the role of National Director when God’s perfect timing for the transition was made clear to the ministry’s Leadership. Precept’s Board of Directors and the Director of International Ministry in Chattanooga, Bob Vereen, have been working deliberately to prepare Mark and believe God will use him to guide Precept in Canada into a bright future. Mark will continue with Precept’s mission to establish people in God’s Word through Precept’s innovative and highly effective Inductive Bible Study Method. Tom and Jane believe the best days for Precept Ministries lie ahead.

Tom and Jane will remain on staff with the ministry, but in new positions. These new positions will allow them to use their gifts and bring greater support in the growth of the ministry through the new initiatives. Tom will take on ministry advancement and finance while Jane will focus on developing and establishing a new group of workshop trainers starting in January.

Mark Sheldrake has a passion to see God’s people established in God’s Word. At the age of 18 Mark followed the call of Jesus to serve Him in full-time vocational ministry through the local church and Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship. For more than 15 years Mark served the local church as a youth pastor and senior pastor and was involved in developing high school impact programs. Mark graduated from Emmanuel Bible College with a Bachelor Degree in Professional Studies with a focus on Education and Youth. In 2007 Mark joined the staff of Precept Ministries Inc. in Canada and has served as Event and Training Coordinator, Director of Transform Canada Student Ministries and most recently as the Director of Operations. Mark has used his gifts to teach Precept Bible Studies, develop and grow the student ministry and preach and teach at conferences across Canada.

Precept Ministries International was raised up by God for the sole purpose of establishing people in God’s Word to produce reverence for Him. It serves as an arm of the church without respect to denomination. God has enabled Precept to reach across denominational lines without compromising the truths of His inerrant Word. We believe every word of the Bible was inspired and given to man as all that is necessary for him to become mature and thoroughly equipped for every good work of life. This ministry does not seek to impose its doctrines on others, but rather to direct people to the Master Himself, who leads and guides by His Spirit into all truth through a systematic study of His Word.

Jack and Kay Arthur founded Precept Ministries International in 1970. Precept achieves its mission of establishing people in God’s Word by training millions of men, women, teens and children around the world to discover Truth for themselves using the Precept Inductive Bible Study Method. The Ministry hosts Bible Training Workshops, Bible Studies, annual Bible study tours to Israel and Bible-centered conferences. Precept ministers in 70 languages and nearly 150 countries establishing people in God’s Word.

Kay and Staff Writers produce Bible studies that meet a broad variety of needs for the Church, Bible study groups, disciple making and individual study. Current study series include: Precept Upon Precept, In & Out, Lord Series, New Inductive Study Series, 40-Minute studies, and Discover 4 Yourself Inductive Bible Studies for Kids. From years of diligent study and teaching experience, Kay and the staff have developed these unique, inductive courses that are used in nearly 150 countries and 70 languages.

    Greetings and Blessings Dear One’s,

After reading this article I would first like to congratulate Mark Sheldrake on his new appointment of National Director of Precept Canada. I look forward to meeting you Mark and extend a hearty welcome to you and your family.

I must admit that I am thrilled to discover that this is not the retirement of Dr. Tom and Jane Hart as they will continue with Precept in different capacities. God willing and me able, I trust that I will have future opportunities for sitting at your feet to learn more of scripture and glean from your wisdom. You have indeed “given yourselves fully to the work of the Lord and that your work in the Lord has never been wasted.” (1 Corinthians 15:58) You are truly a blessing in many lives!

My dad, mother, two siblings, two friend’s and myself took the training/leadership program year’s ago and it lead to a remarkable change within each individual’s life as well as giving us the tools to continue leading bible study classes within our given communities. I encourage all Christian’s to get involved in taking bible studies, leadership training and reading the numerous books that are all provided through Precept Canada.

I will always be thankful and grateful for the bible studies that I have taken through Precept Canada, for Dr. Tom and Jane Hart, for the staff in Brantford, Ontario and of course for Kay Arthur.
May God bless you and a very Merry, Joy-filled Christmas to all!

Yours for a thorough knowledge of God’s Word,

    Susan Thornton

Jane, Tom and Mark – I thank God for all three of you! What a great joy to know that Precept Canada will be put into good hands after decades of faithful leadership by the Harts. As the second generation in Precept I welcome you wholeheartedly – “Welcome to the family brother, Praise the Lord!”

The days ahead are sure to be filled with challenges and opportunities to demonstrate the calling God has on each of our lives.

See you on the Path (Psalm 119:30-31)

Many congratulations Mark. It has been a while but when I saw the announcement, I just had to call my wife Sue, whom you had more interaction with through the BCOQ at their Assembly time, when she was a part of that organisation. I just mentioned your name to her and the recent announcement, and we are both overjoyed for you. Sue remembers well the conversations she had with you and just how gracious and God honouring you were when you last spoke.
Our thoughts and prayers are now, and will continue to be, with you in this new and exciting phase of answering God’s call on your life, as well as for Dr. Tom and Jane. My prayers for you both are for your pastures to remain green and the still waters as refreshing as ever. Mark, Sue and I look forward to talking with you again.
    Many Blessings
David Emery (Pastor Kenmuir Baptist, Mississauga)

Congratulations to Mark! In September I took my second course with Precept, and it was with Mark, in Nanaimo, B.C. I loved his manner of presentation: he being an excellent model of godly devotion , commitment, love, joy and passion for what he is doing. My regret is that this new position may take him away from teaching courses; but, great leadership is precious.
