I’m pleased to announce that Derek Kaemingk is joining our team in the role of Associate Director having a focus on operations and training. Derek was introduced to Precept Ministries and the Precept Inductive Bible Study Method through his wife Jodi-Lee. While living in Yellowknife N.W.T., Jodi-Lee attended a conference in Alberta where Kay and David Arthur led a one-day intensive workshop. Kay challenged participants to know the Word of God. Jodi-Lee took that to heart and began studying with the Precept for Life study program. She introduced Derek to Lord, Teach Me to Study the Bible in 28 Days, and he was hooked.

Since then, as a pastor, Derek has introduced Precept to the local church through his preaching and weekly Precept Upon Precept® studies. Derek and his wife are passionate about God’s Word and have been teaching their two children, Dominic and Daphne, with our children’s studies.

Please join me in welcoming Derek to the ministry. We’re very excited that Derek will be joining us to continue the growth of Precept in Canada. The ministry is growing each year with thousands of Canadians becoming established in God’s Word. Derek will be joining us part-time from February to June, as he wraps up his pastoral ministry in Fort Frances, ON. He’ll begin his full-time ministry with Precept on July 9, 2018.

Beloved, thank you for your continued prayer and financial support of Precept Ministries. God continues to bless this ministry above and beyond what we could ever imagine, and I firmly believe our best years of ministry in Canada are ahead of us.

Serving Him and You,
Mark Sheldrake
Precept Ministries Canada, National Director

Tell us about yourself.
I have been a pastor for 10 years in Northern Manitoba, Yellowknife, and most recently at Bethel Baptist Church in Fort Frances, Ontario.
My wife, Jodi-Lee, and I were married in December of 2003. We have two children Dominic (8) and Dafne (7).

How did you first get introduced to Precept Ministries?
I was introduced to Precept through Jodi-Lee. She went to a Breakforth conference in Edmonton, AB where she was convicted regarding her personal study. The Inductive Bible Study Method really spoke to her and it was her passion and the change I saw in her life that made me want to do it myself.

What kind of impact has Precept Inductive Bible Study had on your life?
Since starting Inductive Bible study, my desire to know God’s Word has only grown. It has made me much more confident in my preaching and has shaped my pastoral ministry in focusing on the importance of God’s people knowing God’s Word.

Which Precept study is currently your favourite?
My favourite study is probably Acts Parts 1&2. I think that it gives very solid context for studying any of Paul’s epistles.

What are you most looking forward to while serving at Precept Ministries?
Ever since I knew that Precept Canada existed I knew that I wanted to be a part of the ministry in some way. I’m looking forward to working with the staff, training, and teaching believers how to study God’s Word properly. I’m very excited about working alongside Mark as we work out his vision for the ministry’s impact on Canada.
