Today we looked at 2 Timothy 4:3-4 again.
When I read these verses, my mind recalls names, faces and even church buildings that have turned from the Word of God. The Word of God sits closed in the pew and is never opened on a Sunday morning and the people in the pews are happy to listen to stories and personal experiences that don’t line up to what the Word tells us and teaches us. Sadness overwhelms me as I think of these churches. Sadness because I personally know these people. Am I the only one in this? Did you think the same as you read these verses? I know people that went for counselling with their pastor and received worldly advice and much criticism that they turned from the church to base their truth on ‘myths’, as it says at the end of 2 Timothy 4:4.
When I look back on myself, I remember sitting in the church pew doing ‘church’, waiting for the sermon to be over. The Bible in the pew was the only Bible I opened during the week and sadly I was okay with that. I’m so thankful that God shook me up and brought me to the place I am at now. Through Precept Ministries’ Inductive Bible Study method I know the truth of His Word and know more about God’s character and His promises.
What about you? What do we see in the world right now? Have you seen the importance of guarding the Treasure?
