Would you agree that one’s last words reveal what is most important to a person? If you knew without a shadow of doubt that you were going to die on a certain date, how would you spend your final days? Hours? Cleaning house? Catching up on movies, weeding the garden? Of course not! If you knew your departure was near–what would you communicate to those who are most important to you? Would you communicate God’s Word?
This was Peter’s passion. His last words in 2 Peter were, “You therefore, beloved knowing this beforehand be on guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness, but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.” Peter’s warning is be on guard, know the Word of God for yourself so as to not be carried away by unprincipled men or the false teachings around us. Paul urges Timothy to “guard the treasure” which has been entrusted to him. Instructions that apply as much to us today as they did the day they were penned.
I do not know how many days, months or years the Lord may grant to me, but my absolute conviction, burden and passion is to establish people in the Word. I am convinced that God’s Word has inherent power and that it is true. Psalm 119:160 says “The sum of Your word is truth, and every one of Your righteous ordinances is everlasting.” John 17:17 says, “Sanctify them in truth; Your word is truth.” Paul writes to Timothy “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”
When I look at the spiritual condition of Canada the only solution is a return to God, His Word being taught without apology and believers being equipped for every good work. Isaiah 55:11 says “So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.”
Over the past 30 years I have taken these truths to heart and have devoted my life to guarding the treasure and establishing people in God’s Word. I am thankful that there are so many Bible Study leaders across the country who with like passion teach and disciple through weekly Bible study classes.
As we pray, submit and prepare for God to do so much more in Canada this coming year we fully know that we cannot do this without an increased commitment from you.
In 2013 the ministry is asking God to raise up 20 new trainers to join our training team. In faith we have set aside two weeks, one in January and the other in February during which we will hold training sessions for the new trainers.
As you read this maybe God is already speaking to you about this great need and opportunity. The link below will take you to a page where you can download the Trainer Job Description and Application. Would you read it over and then prayerfully consider joining our training team?
I am very encouraged by what has been accomplished in the past and expect great things from God in the future through our new initiatives. Thank you for your prayers and financial support.
The coming year will stretch all of us beyond what has ever been accomplished before. Would you bring these matters before the Lord and ask Him how He wants you to become a part of what God is doing, either as a trainer or through your ministry of giving and praying?
